Nuclear Safety Analysis

We have a rich history of providing nuclear safety solutions to Hazard Category 1, 2, and 3 facilities, accelerators, and environmental restoration projects.   HukariAscendent has been supplying nuclear safety service personnel since 1999 to government and commercial projects.  Beginning with hazard identification through evaluation, dispersion modeling and accident analysis, our personnel provide clients with exceptional value through innovative, cost-effective solutions.  Hukari’s extensive professional nuclear safety analysis support includes development and maintenance of integrated safety analysis (ISA), a systematic examination of a facility’s processes, equipment, structures, and personnel activities. Its purpose is to evaluate all relevant hazards that could lead to unacceptable consequences and develop strategies to eliminate or control those hazards.

During an ISA, the following products are developed:

Hazard identification
Hazard evaluation
Hazard and Accident analysis
Atmospheric dispersion modeling (e.g. ARCON, MACCS, Hot Spot, SaFran, Genii)
Safety controls

Documentation (Documenting the results of the analysis, including facility descriptions, process details, and the chosen ISA method

Nuclear Safety Analysis Support – HukariAscendent provides all facets of nuclear safety analysis support to various government and commercial facilities throughout all phases of a facility’s life cycle.    We support projects from inception, working with design engineering and operations to develop a safety document strategies (SDS) to guide elimination of hazards and design basis accidents as the design progresses, preliminary safety documents (PDSA and PSAR) provide support for siting studies, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and decommissioning.

We have experience supporting  both probabilistic and deterministic analysis. Our programmatic support includes initial permitting and licensing, preliminary design, start-up, operation, and decommissioning.  Hukari also provides support during operation of the facility to include evaluation of changes (e.g. Unreviewed Safety Question, 50.59 review), incorporation of operating experience, power uprate, and life extension. Program support activities include procedure and manual development, design specifications development, and procurement support.

HukariAscendent’s resources use risk and reliability techniques to enhance safety and operational performance of complex facilities such as microreactors (KRUSTY, PELE), nuclear power plants (Utility, AP-1000, EPR), small modular (TerraPower, NuScale, GEH) and advanced reactors, isotope production (Shine, Eden, TFF), uranium enrichment facilities (Urenco), chemical processing facilities, and hazardous material processing facilities.

Our personnel exercise the required skill, experience, construction techniques, and problem solving that bridges planning, constructability, project phasing, construction execution and closeout.  HukariAscendent personnel interface routinely with end-users and internal and external stakeholders.
